I just wanted to tell you how happy I am with my cosmic cushion. I have had it for about 6 weeks and use it probably 5 times a week. It is so comfortable, I removed some of the buckwheat and after that it has felt great. I have used 4 different types but now finally found the one, no back ache and no numb feet. Meditation is now a time to look forward to, not dread.
Have you ever found yourself floating around your house, really doing nothing but kind of doing something? If you've ever found yourself aimlessly rearranging the spice rack, refolding the t-shirts in your dresser drawer or moving nick-knacks from one space to another, you have putzed. There is a certain therapeutic aspect to these seemingly meaningless and mundane actions. Most of us spend the majority of our lives immersed in actions that have a beginning and an end. Whether our time is spent at work or at home, most of our actions are goal oriented. Whereas with putzing there is no purpose, set goal or finish line. The Power of Putzing comes from our innate need to nest and become more a part of our environment.
Often putzing can be like a moving meditation, which is when our bodies are moving, but our minds don't need to be totally engaged in the activity at hand.
We've all heard how beneficial it is to meditate, however, for those of you who find it difficult to sit still and meditate, a moving meditation can offer similar benefits. Walking, running and swimming are all examples of a moving meditation. So don't feel like you're wasting your time when you find yourself putzing. Instead realize how relaxed you feel during and after. Embrace this mindless activity and know that you've experienced The Power of Putzing.

While most New Year's resolutions involve losing weight or increasing exercise many of us feel determined on this first day of the New Year to make some positive change in our lives. While the statistics are mostly anecdotal, most people start out strong with one or more resolutions and generally lose sight of them within a few months.
Here are some tips on how to set and then keep your resolutions alive:
Set a realistic and achievable resolution. Setting a goal of losing 10 pounds instead of 50 pounds will more likely result in success.
Make a plan. If your goal is to start a yoga practice, research the type of yoga you want to pursue, sign up for a class, and put future classes on your calendar so that they are your priority on those dates and times.
Create a positive reinforcement list. Write on paper and post in the kitchen a list of what you hope to accomplish and what results you will get from those accomplishments. If you want to quit smoking, write a list of all the benefits you and others will get from reaching that goal.
Talk to others. Telling your friends and family what you want to achieve will give them the opportunity to support you as you make progress.
Reward yourself. As you achieve certain milestones, reward yourself. Just be sure to reward yourself in a way that is positive. Don't eat a slice of cheesecake because you lost 5 pounds. Instead, go shopping for a new outfit that shows off your new figure.
Track your progress. Keep a log, a journal, or a calendar that specifically outlines your progress. If you are working on a meditation practice, mark on a calendar how many minutes you were able to sit.
Don't beat yourself up. Sooner or later you may slip off your plan. Just note that you missed the yoga class and then re-commit to the next class. Learn to see a slip as simply that and not as an inherent failure of the self.
Keep reminding yourself. Put up a calendar and write your resolution on the 1st of each month. Be artistic and make it look different each month so it's new and fresh. Create posters or draw new images on a white board that remind you of your goal.
These tips should help keep your resolution going as long as possible. There is some point where practicing a new behavior becomes a new habit. But, some changes take a life time of diligence, such as maintaining weight loss. With regular work, it does become easier. As Lao Tzu said it, the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.

The Winter DVD Greeting Card is a beautifully done card and DVD for a low $9.25 - Shipping Included in the U.S. The card has a beautiful, bright wintery image on the front. The inside is blank so you can write your own message. But, the highlight of this greeting card is the 30-some minute video on the DVD.
The video has peaceful images of slowly falling snow, snow laden trees and mountains, and frosted trees. It is simply beautiful imagery. The DVD is designed to loop continously so that you can leave it on for as long as you like. Though there is a certain melancholy about this DVD, there is a certain warmth and peace about snow. The accompanying music is gentle, flowing, and uplifting. The music is by Llewellyn and is as superbly done as all her CDs.
Here is a sample video from the DVD:
