The Mindfulness Timer
This is the newest addition to our line of pyramid-shaped gonging timers. The Mindfulness Timer is perfect for Mindfulness meditation and Mindfulness practice. The timer can be set to gong at the beginning and end of a duration of time and it can also be set to ring a single gong at a repeating interval.
For example, if you want to do a 20-minute session of mindfulness, you might set the timer for 20 minutes with a 2-minute repeating gong in between. At first you will hear 3 gongs to signal the beginning of the session. Then you will hear a single gong every 2 minutes. At 20 minutes you will hear what sounds like several slight taps of the gong followed by 3 steady rings of the gong.
You can see how this timer will help you with a mindfulness practice. Very soon after you begin your practice the mind will begin to swirl around in useless thoughts about everyday concerns. The 2-minute mindfulness gong will help you regain your awareness of the present moment. Of course, we all know that the Monkey Mind will soon go back to its wild ways. Again, in another 2 minutes the gong will ring and bring you back to the present moment.
Doing a daily practice of mindfulness is difficult at first. But, after several sessions, you will find that you can more easily maintain your awareness of the present moment and stop the mind from wandering where it will. The Mindfulness Timer will be a great tool to help you achieve this awareness and, better yet, to maintain it in your daily living.
